Home Security Systems

Security systems are a combination of keypads, detectors, and alarm communications. The sophistication of the system depends on the application but many control panels have features that can help protect against tampering, electrical surges and telephone line cuts.

ADT recommends Life Safety Solutions, customised to give you the level of protection you need for your family and home.

The Heart of the System
The control panel houses the electronic core of your system and the communication device which links your alarm to the ADT monitoring centre. All the detection devices and the keypad are connected to the control panel. Wireless devices communicate back to the control panel using radio frequency components, which also enables key fob (remote control) devices for ease of use.

Fully wireless options are available which integrate the control panel, keypad and internal sounder.

First Layer of Protection: Door/Window Contacts
Monitors the perimeter of the building
• These devices detect intruders whilst they are still outside your property
• This provides immediate notification of entry and / or exit from the property
• These devices can be used when you are in the property as a door chime to alert you to entry or exit without activating the alarm
• Discreet, wireless options are available. Ideal for existing homes as these avoid unsightly wiring
• Glass break detectors are also available to detect the sound of broken glass

• ADT monitored smoke detectors work 24x7 whether the alarm is set or not, so we are always there
• ADT use photo-electric devices which detect smoke in the home much quicker providing vital extra seconds to secure your family's safety

ADT Life Safety Solution - System Types

A Hardwired system - A fully hardwired system is particularly suited to new buildings where cable can be laid prior to gibbing, or where there is easy access to the roof and wall cavities for running cable.

A Hybrid system - Wireless zones are achieved through the use of radio frequency devices powered by long life batteries, which means a mix of hardwired and wireless devices can be used. Ideal in situations where there is some access for cabling and wireless devices enable protection of area where cabling isn’t possible or aesthetic. Key fobs (remote controls) can be added too.

A fully Wireless system - Ideal for existing buildings where cabling isn’t possible e.g in concrete block constructions. This is a good option for people who rent, as there is minimal impact on walls and ceilings.

ADT Life Safety Solution - Programmable Features

Door Chime

You can set your doors to chime during the day – so you can hear if anyone enters or exits your home – a great idea for parents of active children or people who care for the elderly. Different chimes are sounded from your keypad.

Duress/Panic Feature

If you were forced to disarm your alarm by an intruder, a special code will turn the alarm off, while alerting the monitoring centre to a duress or panic situation.

Daylight Savings

Time can be programmed in to change.

Personal Code

Up to 32 user codes – so each member of your family can have their own personal code.

Report on 500 Events

Your keypad can report on 500 events e.g if every family member has their own code, you could see what time each person comes home, or when they have activated the alarm.

One Time Only Codes

You can give a special one time only code for trades people to enter your home, and then arm the alarm on leaving. Which means you don’t need to take time out of your busy schedule to let them in – or give out your own personal code.

Regular Integrity Checks

Regular communications integrity check with ADT’s alarm monitoring service. Each week the ADT monitoring centre will receive signals to indicate your alarm is communicating and functioning correctly. If there is any fault, they will call you.

Remote Access

Your alarm can be programmed to allow ADT to remotely access the system. This enables ADT to provide customer service solutions, in particular technical assistance, at a lower cost than sending out a technician. ADT will record the unique codes that are required to program your system as a back up to copies the installer will leave with you. ADT technicians will always provide you with your “Installer” and “Master” codes, which are very important. ADT disapproves of these codes being withheld from customers, which in worst cases can render your system redundant.

The Keypad also features one button keys for:

STAY

e.g. Arm your perimeter protection while you are at home

AWAY

Rather than having to key in your personal 4-digit code, you can simply hit AWAY and the system will be armed

CHIME

Set your perimeter door / window contacts to chime if they are opened and / or closed

RESET

One touch to reset any smoke detectors if they have falsely activated e.g if you burn the toast (remember to disarm the alarm first using your 4-digit code)
