What happens when one of the detectors activates?
When one of the detectors activates, it communicates with the control panel, which then uses your telephone line to send a signal to the ADT monitoring centre which is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - so we’re Always There.

The monitoring team will follow your contact plan to determine whether the alarm is genuine or a false activation. This usually involves contacting you first or your emergency contacts in your absence. If it is real, the appropriate response will be put in action e.g a security officer can be dispatched or fire service or ambulance notified.

This all happens whether you are at home or not.

What else does ADT provide?
The security of knowing your Life Safety Solution is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The ADT monitoring centre regularly checks that your alarm is communicating and functioning correctly.

The ADT monitoring centre will take action on the following critical signals:

  • Alarm activation, including smoke alarm
  • Loss of mains power
  • Low battery alarm
  • Non-communication between the alarm system and our monitoring equipment e.g in the case of telecommunications faults

ADT provides technical support for installation of Life Safety Solutions, equipment upgrades and maintenance.
