Leading security systems integrator ADT Security has just completed a major security overhaul of Gold Coast City Marina, one of the largest and most comprehensive marine precincts in the southern hemisphere.

Project commenced:

Incorporating 56 specialist nautical businesses as well as moorings for 100 boats, undercover dry storage areas, lockable sheds and over five hectares of hardstand area, the Gold Coast City Marina (GCCM) caters for tiny outboard runabouts, fishing trawlers, multimillion dollar superyachts and everything in between.

GCCM is widely acknowledged as a centre for excellence in marine work and, as such, the businesses on site attract a large number of international clients and commercial customers for whom the safety and security of their vessels is paramount. According to Steve Sammes, GGCM’s Chief Executive Officer, this was a key driver for the security upgrade.

Expect the very best

In deciding on a security provider, GCCM were looking for a trusted supplier that could improve on the current levels of service they were receiving from the incumbent provider, ensure fast response times and offer an extensive product range, whilst delivering an upgrade at a competitive price.

“We were looking for a security provider which would complement the standard of excellence we offer across all our other operations. In the end we chose ADT as they met all our criteria and had an international profile which would instil confidence in our customers,” said Sammes.

ADT Security took over the contract and quickly set about upgrading components, installing additional security devices and making sure the entire system was fully integrated.

Total Protection

The first project was to reprogram the existing alarm system to ensure that all sensors reported correctly, including all passive infra-red (PIR) sensors and smoke detectors throughout the GCCM’s many offices and sheds. An additional part of this project involved liaising with the Marina’s tenants to further integrate each of their independent alarm systems with the main system, which is monitored around the clock by trained personnel in the ADT Security Response Centre.

ADT Security was also tasked with designing a video surveillance solution with a remote Visual Verification tool to monitor access from the water. This solution is used in conjunction with on-site security guards to control access to the site at all times.

Finally, GCCM is able to access reports such as alarm history and patrol callouts through ADT Select – an online portal which provides complete system transparency through easy access to important data about security system performance and events. In the event of an incident, this provides real clarity about the situation and how ADT Security responded.

Ongoing Support

While the upgrade is now complete, in addition to its monitoring role, ADT Security will provide ongoing maintenance of the system, ensuring it continues to operate above expectations and grows with the Marina’s changing needs.
